SALT LAKE CITY – Statement by Dave Hansen, Chairman of the Utah Republican Party, regarding the arrest last evening of State Senator Sheldon Killpack.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Senator Killpack and his family at this time. As he has indicated in his statement he accepts full responsibility for his actions and consequences. Senator Killpack has served his district and the state with distinction in the Utah State Senate.
It is inexcusable for anyone, especially those in positions of public trust to violate our laws. It is also against those standards which we as Republicans stand for and expect from those who represent our party.
In the days ahead we stand ready to work with Senator Killpack, Senate leadership and others to deal with this unfortunate and unexpected situation.”
