Please mark your calendars for the upcoming UTGOP State Nominating Convention on April 27, 2024, at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City from 7am to 4pm. You as precinct delegates will play a crucial role in voting for and nominating leaders, including those who will represent Utah in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Delegate Agreement StandardsPlease familiarize yourself with the Delegate Agreement Standards below, which outline delegate obligations and expectations. Please let us know if you have any questions. Provide accurate contact information to your Precinct Chair for your 1) email address 2) cell phone number, 3) home address and update him/her should any of your contact information change. This is how the UTGOP, your county Republican Party, and candidates will contact you. If you don't know who your Precinct Chair is, you can find them by entering your address here. You can also contact your county party leadership and they can point you in the right direction. Click here for the list of County Chairs & Vice-Chairs. Check your provided list of communication methods (email, phone, mailbox) regularly to ensure you are not missing information relevant to your role and responsibilities. Attend official events leading up to the convention, including Meet-the-Candidate events and debates (in-person or online). Diligently vet candidates and issues. Vote at the specified times and places in order to represent your precinct. If you are unable to vote at convention, please contact your Precinct Chair as early as possible so s/he can arrange an alternate to take your place. If you don't know who your Precinct Chair is, you can find them by entering your address here. Support the official GOP candidate(s) after the primary election. Serve the full two-year term: this includes participating in local elections/conventions to represent your area as well as the party organizing conventions. Aside from these guidelines, we hope you’ll reach out to your neighborhood precincts often and seek to understand their perspectives on issues and votes that you have coming up. Host a cottage meeting and invite your neighbors to meet the candidates you’ve found most impressive. Educate and inform yourself by studying the party platform and constitution. Develop friendships and respectful relationships with your elected leaders--they value your dedication. |
Learn about the CandidatesOver the next few weeks, candidates will reach out to you with their unique messages and missions to help you decide who best represents your political view and those of your precinct-neighbors who elected you. I encourage you to take their calls and read their emails. Please attend cottage meetings, town halls, and “Meet the Candidate” events. Get to know all of the candidates who you may vote for at the UTGOP State Nominating Convention. Convention Schedule OverviewApril 27, 2024 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City 7:00am-8:00am Registration and Credentialing Convention registration begins at 7:00am at the Salt Palace Convention Center. You will need a Photo ID. 8:00-10:00am Break-Out Sessions for Multi-County Elections If you live in a district that has an election for Utah state House, Senate, or school board, we recommend you arrive no later than 7:30am. These Break-out Sessions for multi-county elections will be held between 8:00am-10:00am. To find out if you are responsible for voting in one of the Break-out session elections, please check your address in the Precinct Portal. 10:00am-4:00pm Convention General Session Begins In the General Session delegates will vote for state-wide races for Governor, Attorney General, Auditor, Treasurer, and federal races including U.S. Senate, U.S. Congressional House races, national committee men and women, and national delegates. Please note the General Session elections may continue past 4pm. |
