Defending Utah’s Right to Manage Our Public Lands

On August 20th, Utah took a bold and necessary step to push back against overreaching federal control of our public lands. We’re proud to stand behind the leadership of Speaker Mike Schultz, Senate President Stuart Adams, Attorney General Sean Reyes, Governor Spencer Cox, and members of the Utah Legislature for taking meaningful action to protect the land we call home.

This isn’t just about policy—it’s about principle. Utahns know our land better than bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. For too long, federal overreach has restricted access, hindered economic development, and threatened the livelihoods of communities across our state. That’s why Republican leaders are fighting back—to put decision-making power back where it belongs: with the people of Utah.

This latest effort affirms what we’ve always known: that local stewardship is the best way to preserve and protect our natural resources. Utah is full of passionate individuals—ranchers, farmers, outdoor enthusiasts, conservationists—who care deeply about this land and understand how to manage it responsibly. We believe in balancing access, conservation, and growth for the good of all Utahns, both now and in the future.

We commend our state leaders for taking a stand and showing the rest of the country what it means to fight for freedom, accountability, and local control. This is about more than just land—it’s about defending Utah’s future.

The Utah Republican Party will always support efforts to return power to the people and protect what makes our state great.

Sincerely,
Utah Republican Party
