Thank you for stepping up to serve as a State Delegate. Delegates are a vital part of our Party’s foundation, and your involvement plays a key role in shaping our leadership, direction, and policies. We appreciate your time, commitment, and voice—and we look forward to having you join us for this important event. We look forward to a fun and engaging 2026 convention.
Convention Details – Save the Date & Register
Please mark your calendar and make plans to attend the 2026 Utah Republican Party State Nominating Convention:
Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
Location: Utah Valley University – UCCU Center
Credentialing Opens: 7:00 a.m.
You will vote to nominate Republican candidates in multi-county races. (Races with in one county are handled at the respective county convention.) Delegates may also be asked to vote on proposed resolutions, bylaw changes, and amendments to the Party’s constitution.
In the coming weeks you will receive more details about the convention schedule.
Registration
All attendees—including delegates, candidates, elected officials, media, volunteers, and non-delegate guests—are requested to register in advance for the Utah Republican Party State Convention.
Advance registration helps the convention team plan for seating, parking, security, credentialing space, and other accommodations at the event. It also helps ensure delegates receive important convention communications and provides an opportunity to confirm or update contact information in the party database.
Please note the following:
- Registration does not replace delegate credentialing.
- Duly elected delegates will not be denied admission for failing to register; admission will be governed by the official credentialing list required by party bylaws. However registration is a huge help for planning the convention.
- Registration is required for non-delegate guests in order to enter the convention arena.
- Seating will be prioritized for delegates, with additional space available for guests as capacity allows.
- Due to space limitations and current security considerations, advance registration helps ensure a safe and well-organized event for all participants.
We encourage all attendees to register as early as possible to assist with planning and ensure the best possible convention experience.

Delegate Agreement Standards
Please familiarize yourself with the Delegate Agreement Standards below, which outline delegate obligations and expectations. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Provide accurate contact information to your Precinct Chair for your 1) email address, 2) cell phone number, 3) home address, and update him/her should any of your contact information change. This is how the UTGOP, your county Republican Party, and candidates will contact you. If you don't know who your Precinct Chair is, you can find them by entering your address here. You can also contact your county party leadership and they can point you in the right direction. Click here for the list of County Chairs & Vice-Chairs.
Check your provided list of communication methods (email, phone, and mailbox) regularly to ensure you are not missing information relevant to your role and responsibilities.
Attend official events leading up to the convention, including Meet-the-Candidate events and debates (in-person or online).
Diligently vet candidates and issues.
Vote at the specified times and places in order to represent your precinct.
If you are unable to vote at convention, please contact your Precinct Chair as early as possible so s/he can arrange an alternate to take your place. If you don't know who your Precinct Chair is, you can find them by entering your address here.
Support the official GOP candidate(s) after the primary election.
Serve the full two-year term: this includes participating in special elections, should the occasion arise that a vacancy occurs in your area, as well as the party’s organizing convention next year.
Aside from these guidelines, we hope you’ll reach out to your neighborhood precincts often and seek to understand their perspectives on issues and votes that you have coming up. Host a cottage meeting and invite your neighbors to meet the candidates you’ve found most impressive. Educate and inform yourself by studying the party platform and constitution. Develop friendships and respectful relationships with your elected leaders — they value your dedication.
You can also prepare for the convention by watching delegate training videos.
Voting & Participation
Delegates must bring a valid Utah driver license to complete the credentialing process at the convention.
If you are unable to attend the convention, it is your responsibility to contact your precinct chair or county party leadership as soon as possible so that an alternate can be appointed in accordance with rules and procedures. All delegate changes must be submitted by your county no later than 5pm on April 20, which means you need to communicate with your counties no later than April 19. Substitutions are not allowed after 5pm on April 20 to ensure that we can properly prepare for credentialing.
The full schedule and agenda for the day will be released in the official “Call to Convention” email, which will be sent two weeks before the event.
Break-Out Session Elections on Convention Day
If you live in a district with an election for the Utah state House, Senate, or school board, please read the following carefully.
Delegates vote in Break-Out Session Elections for multi-county races at the convention. You can find out which elections you are responsible for voting in by entering your address in the Precinct Portal.
Under “Districts for this precinct,” you will see which number is your Congressional District (e.g., 1, 2, or 3), State Senate District (e.g., 21), State House District (e.g., 53), and State School Board District (e.g., 11).
Please identify the following:
- DISTRICTS for your precinct
- The CANDIDATES for each multi-county election
- The TIME for each multi-county election
- The ROOM NUMBER / LOCATION
The detailed election schedule, including times and room assignments, will be released two weeks before the convention.
(Note: Any elections for offices in districts that overlap with two counties are elected by state delegates at the state convention. Elections for offices in districts that do not overlap counties are determined at the county conventions by county delegates.)
Please note that times and locations may change. Delegates should check with registration on the day of the convention for the final election schedule.
Booths for Candidates, Nonprofits, and Vendors
Delegates will have the opportunity to visit with candidates, elected officials, and community organizations at the Booth Expo, located throughout the UCCU Center, before the General Session begins.
In addition to candidates, we invite nonprofits, advocacy groups, and businesses to apply to host a booth space. This is a great way to connect with delegates and community leaders to share your message, products, and services. Candidates will have first priority at the booth draw.
We will announce the Booth Draw for the 2026 Convention Expo shortly after filing closes on March 26th.
Logistics & Additional Information
There is ample free parking at UVU, but early arrival and carpooling are encouraged. UVU will have concessions available for purchase, and delegates are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. The UCCU Center is ADA accessible. If you need a specific ADA accommodation, please specify it by emailing [email protected] to communicate accessibility needs to our convention team.
Please note: This is an in-person-only event. Virtual participation will not be offered. For updates, visit www.utgop.org and follow us on social media.

Candidates may submit their notice using the following form:
Notice of Intent to Run
Submitting this notice is required by our bylaws to participate in the convention process. It also ensures we can include you in candidate communications and provide important convention information as it becomes available. Please note that your candidate information WILL NOT be posted on our website until this form is completed.

A delegate may sponsor no more than two platform amendments or resolutions. Each platform amendment and resolution is subject to review and consideration by the Platform/Resolutions Committee under our Bylaws. Duly submitted Constitution and Bylaw amendments are subject to review by the Constitution/Bylaws Committee, and will be forwarded either to the Convention or to the State Central Committee for consideration.
