Douglas Wagstaff
15RCThe cliché “It’s all about the students” is correct. Let’s do what is best for our students
and their futures.
Who is Doug Wagstaff besides a husband and father? The education bug began in my
junior and senior years of high school. I was a member of the Youth Advisory
Committee to the State Superintendent, Walter Talbot.
My experience: 18 years of teaching Physics and Math, a successful coach (basketball,
softball, track and cross country), SBO advisor, 20+ years announcing high school
football and basketball.
Sixteen years of administration from Intern Assistant, HS Assistant (5 years), Junior
High Principal at two schools (7 years), and District Associate Director (3 years).
Today, I am a post-retirement Math Teacher beginning my third year back next year. I
have taught Math 7 to AP Precalculus and Physical Science to AP Physics.
I have been honored as a Teacher of the Year, beginning my third year of teaching, on 7
separate occasions at the local, district and state level, including by two businesses that
honor teachers. I was honored as a Principal of the Year by the PTA on a regional level.
One of the few to receive that honor from the PTA as both teacher and administrator. I
was the featured teacher in a UEA “One Kid at a Time” commercial that aired during the
legislative session that year.
I am all about education and have experienced all levels. I bring problem solving and
experience. I am an advocate for all things education.
